The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations , Evgeny Zinichev , died on September 8, 2021, during an exercise in Norilsk, saving film director Alexander Melnik. He was 55 years old, he took the post of minister in 2018. Alexander Chupriyan, who served as First Deputy Minister, became Acting Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
